You have to do your cardio first
Getting your cardio out of the way at the beginning of your workout might seem like a good idea, but it certainly won’t benefit you the most. In fact, personal trainer Eric Allen told Men’s Fitness magazine that you should strength train first.
“Running or doing other cardio first will reduce glycogen levels, which can prevent you from training as hard as you need to,” he said.
Exercise alone will deliver results
Working out an hour every day, multiple days of the week is great for your body. But you’re not going to see the results you’re working so hard for if you don’t focus on nutrition as well. For an effective workout, the body needs to be fueled properly. So stop eating refined sugary snacks and processed items. Focus on fueling your system with real foods, like fruits, vegetables, organic grains and lean meats.
If you’re sweating like crazy, you’re burning calories like crazy
Breaking a sweat at the gym doesn’t mean you’re working any harder than the person next to you who’s dry. Jessica Matthews, a spokesperson for the American Council on Exercise, told Health magazine that sweating is just your body’s way of reacting to your workout.
“Sweat is a biological response that cools your skin and regulates internal body temperature,” she said.
If you aren’t soaking wet after your workout, don’t worry. That doesn’t say anything about how hard you’ve worked!
